About Us
Wilkins Parkinson’s Foundation was awarded tax-exempt public charity status by the IRS in August of 2010. You can view a PDF of our 501(c)(3) here.
Although we didn’t become a public charity until 2010, we’ve been working as advocates for the PD community since 2008, when we held our first “Polo for Parkinson’s” event. Since then we’ve raised almost half a million dollars for the Michael J. Fox Foundation (as WMC Team Fox), and assisted other PD charities like the American Parkinson’s Disease Association and Parkinson’s Unity Walk with awareness and fundraising projects. As you browse the photos below, you will see a variety of designs that we’ve done in support of other PD organizations.
Wilkins Parkinson’s Foundation (WPF) is dedicated to raising awareness to accelerate the cure and treatment of Parkinson’s Disease. Our strategies include directing funds to research, education and awareness, working to increase collaboration between other PD nonprofits, and advocating on behalf of the entire Parkinson’s community.
WPF Co-Founder Bill Wilkins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2006. Although we didn’t become a formal public charity until 2010, we have been working as advocates for the PD community since 2008, when we held our first “Polo for Parkinson’s” event. Since then we’ve raised over $500,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation (as WMC Team Fox), and assisted other PD charities like the American Parkinson’s Disease Association and Parkinson’s Unity Walk with awareness and fundraising projects. In 2011, WPF expanded the fundraising and awareness efforts by joining forces with Tamra Cantore’s fundraising group, Team Cantore, and together we have raised more than $1,500,000 directly benefiting Parkinson’s related initiatives. WPF continues to assist and seek for collaboration with all members of the PD community.
